Jonathan Prendergast
Jonathan has over a decade’s worth of experience in clean energy project development and investment. After graduate roles in engineering, his energy and climate journey commenced working on the Dandenong Precinct Trigeneration project, the first of its type to be built and operate in Australia. It included a 6MW cogeneration facility to service over 20 future buildings via 1km of underground insulated heating water pipes, and can achieve a 50% reduction in emissions through energy efficacy and use of waste heat. In this project Jonathan gained know how in energy project development, including regulation, energy markets, financial analysis, business case development and contract closure.
Jonathan continues to apply these skills for various partners investigating emissions reduction and investment opportunities. He sees Aquaponics as having a huge potential positive impact in our communities, both economic and environmental. Aquaponics does more with less, just like energy efficiency projects he has worked on prior. By using the skills in developing new projects in the energy world, he will work with Fish Farmers to see it overcome barriers and achieve success, which is the establishment of a commercially sustainable Aquaponics operation, proving that it is possible and profitable.
